HUMMINGBIRD PLANTS
Hummingbirds
are attracted to tubular flowers with lots of nectar. Arrange
your plants so the beds are filled with clusters of several
species of nectar plants for them.
Hummingbirds
cannot survive on nectar alone. They need tiny insects,
spiders and other invertebrates as a source of protein.
When
you are tempted to grab the pesticides, remember that pesticides not
only kill bugs, they will also kill the birds.
Having a diversely planted, pesticide free-garden will ensure
that you have plenty for them to eat.
Add a bird bath, fountain or moving water, as the sound also
attracts
them.
Add woody vegetation to give them protection and a
place to nest.
Spider webs and plant fibers are used to build nests in the fork of dense shrubs and trees.
